there are a few changes since the previous version. these are visible at the bottom of the window: new license is being used. this means you can no longer use previous versions of lightroom classic cc with this version. it’s also the first time lightroom has gone with a new license format. previous versions of lightroom were adobe creative cloud releases and therefore adobe creative cloud was how the license was stored. this new license has the file extension lrc. if you want to use it, you need to get an update from adobe creative cloud. mac was the only supported platform. this has been true since lightroom cc was launched. now, the new adobe creative cloud has opened the lightroom classic cc to use on windows, linux, and mac. so now, you can use the same version on all three platforms. new update option. new to the lightroom classic cc is a check box in the update panel that says “check for and update now”. after updating, you’ll see a new button on the top of the page that says “relaunch”. this will relaunch the program, but you’ll need to re-enter your license. this is also visible if you’ve previously activated the product by downloading or installing the software. at the top of the window, you can also see if you’ve previously activated this product. if you have, you can use the “relaunch” button to relaunch the program. if you don’t have the product activated, it’s only visible in the top-left corner of the program window. you’ll need to activate it to use the button.
